but, most people think of mindset as binary - you're either fixed or growth-oriented.

The truth? We all exist on a spectrum, and our mindset can vary dramatically across different areas of life.

You might have a growth mindset about your professional skills but a fixed mindset about your artistic abilities. You might embrace challenges at work but avoid them in relationships.

Now based on your situation and the challenge you encounter you might go back and forth too.

I'll never forget one workshop where a C-suite leader questioned why administrative assistants would need growth mindset training. "Isn't that just for people on leadership tracks?" he asked.

This reveals a fundamental misconception: that the growth mindset is position-dependent rather than human-dependent.

The truth: Growth mindset is essential for:

And “NO” as “Next Opportunity”? That changed how I handle rejection—it’s not a dead end, but a redirection.

This isn't just positive thinking – it's strategic resilience.

So when faced with challenges recall this quote as a reminder to reframe your experiences as stepping stones rather than roadblocks, to maintain the momentum you need to eventually break through.

5. Practical Tool: Mindset Reframing Sentences

One of the most powerful ways to shift from a fixed to a growth mindset is by consciously reframing how you talk to yourself. Your internal dialogue shapes your reality more than you might realize.

Example reframes:
